New Releases and Memorial Day Weekend

Spend Memorial Day Weekend With Us!

Join us as we kick of the Summer Season at our annual Memorial Day Weekend Open House. Our very good friends at Solstice Cafe will be here with their mobile pizza over both Saturday the 25th and Sunday the 26th serving up delicious slices of their award winning pizza along with their infamous wood fired S’mores.

Solstice Wood Fire Pizza at Syncline

Solstice pizza pairs perfectly with our two new wine releases. The 2011 Boushey Vineyard Syrah and our 2011 Counoise. We will be open Thursday May 23rd – Monday May 27th from 11-6. Please plan on a relaxing afternoon of great wine and food in an idyllic location.

2010 Bouchey Vineyard Syrah

2011 Boushey Vineyard Syrah

We are so excited to be releasing what is sure to be a new favorite, our 2011 Boushey Vineyard Syrah.

“Located at high elevation, the celebrated Boushey Vineyard produces wines of distinct character with balanced acidity. Layered soils and long, cool, slow ripening time allow for complex flavor development. 2011 was the first harvest using Boushey fruit for Syncline Winery. We are so impressed by the quality, delicious complexity and brilliant acidity, we plan to keep working with this vineyard for the long term.

This intriguing wine has lovely savory, gamey notes, hints of pepper, aromas and flavors of blackberry and huckleberry, all embraced by a rich mouthfeel and finish.”

$35.00 a bottle – $378.00 a case
Club Price $28.00 a bottle – $336.00 a case

2011 Counoise

We are please to bring back what has become a real standout wine, the 2011 Counoise.

“One of the 13 permitted varieties of Chateauneuf-du-Pape, this delectable Counoise from McKinley Springs Vineyard was exceptional in the 2011 vintage. We added a splash of Syrah from Ciel du Cheval vineyard to add more structure and complexity. Strawberry, tobacco, anise and black pepper flavors dominate the nose and palate. Rich spice and dark cherry flavors provide a satisfying experience. Enjoy this wine all on it’s own or paired with grilled chicken, pork or salmon.”

2011 Counoise tech notes

$30.00 a bottle – $324.00 a case
Club Price $24.00 a bottle – $288.00 a case
In addition to our new reds, we’ve also released two white wines this month, perfect for warmer weather.

2012 Grüner Veltliner

“Truly mountain grown fruit, this location produces wines of exceptional focus and clarity. This wine is dry, backed by brilliant acidity and shows flavors and aromas of classic Austrian Grüner; wet stone, lime blossoms, lemon verbena and fresh mown hay. A perfect complement to fresh chilled shellfish and sushi, asparagus and artichokes.”

2012 Grüner Veltliner tech notes

$20.00 a bottle – $216.00 a case

Excellent Wine Enthusiast Scores plus Rosé and Pinot Noir Release

It’s Spring!

The days are getting longer and the weather is getting warmer. That means one thing around here…

Rosé season is back!

If you’re a fan of Syncline you know how much we enjoy our Rosé. Light, crisp, dry with just enough complexity to keep it interesting. This is a wine to drink with friends while sitting on the deck (or next to a vineyard?) Pour a glass while you’re grilling dinner (or lunch?). Rosé is perfect any time the sun is shining.

2012 Syncline Rosé

“Our creation of this wine is in direct response to our love of crisp, dry Rosé. The color is a striking pale coral with aromas of pink grapefruit, and flavors of strawberry and watermelon. Finishing completely dry, this is as serious as Rosé gets.”

Varietals: 49% Mourvedre /
39% Cinsault / 12% Grenache

2012 Syncline Rosé Tech Notes

18.00 bottle – $194.40 a case
Club price $14.40 a bottle- 172.80 a case

2011 Syncline Pinot Noir

2011 Pinot Noir

We are releasing our elegant 2011 Pinot Noir as well!

“This 100% Pinot Noir shows bright ruby red color and remarkable cherry and cranberry perfumed aromas and flavors. Subtle hints of Anise with silky tannins complete this expressive wine.”

The overall impression of juicy, red fruit is complemented by bright acidity. The wine is beautiful, with enough acid and silky tannins to really shine with 3-5 years bottle age. Here is a wine that proves great Pinot Noir can be
grown in Washington.

2011 Syncline Pinot Noir tech notes

$30.00 a bottle – $324.00 a case
Club Price $24.00 a bottle – $288.00 a case

Both these new releases can be purchased online or in the tasting room. We are open Thursday through Sunday from 11-6.

March News and Events

March is a wonderful time to take the drive out to Lyle. It’s typically one of the quieter months in the tasting rooms, so quite often you’ll miss the big crowds. Our weather is usually better out here, so if you’re tired of the gloomy weather West of the Cascades we usually have sunshine and blue skies. All four of the Lyle Wineries are open for the season, so you can make a day of it.

Grass widows above Syncline

But it’s the wildflowers that makes Lyle so special.

Weather you’re hiking up Catherine Creek, The Cherry Orchard Trail, or The Klickitat Trail you will find some extraordinary wildflowers blanketing the hillsides of Lyle.
Stop by after your hike for a glass of wine and a little sunshine. We’d love to see you.

Syncline at Cochon 555 In Seattle

Join us in Seattle for one of our favorite events, Cochon!

COCHON 555 - “five chefs, five pigs, five winemakers, five years! Do not miss it when this one-of-a-kind traveling culinary competition and tasting event comes to t
own and marks a culinary milestone with its 5th Anniversary Tour. Created to promote a national conversation around the sustainable farming of heritage-breed pigs, each event challenges five local chefs to prepare a menu from the entirety of one 200 pound family-raised heritage breed of pig, nose-to-tail. Twenty judges (culinary luminaries) and 400 guests help decide the winning chef by voting on the “best bite of the day”. The winner will be crowned the Prince or Princess of Porc and will compete at Grand Cochon event at the FOOD & WINE Classic, at the recently renovated Hotel Jerome, in Aspen on Sunday, June 16.”

Syncline Winery will be one of five featured wineries in the Cochon competition. Tickets for this amazing culinary event are still available and can be purchased via their website.
