Thanks to everyone who made it out to the Winery for our Memorial Day Weekend celebration. We had a blast seeing old friends and meeting new ones. The weather cooperated here in the country and so many of you got to take advantage of the new Adirondack chairs and hammocks. We will be tasting all summer inside the winery and out by the vineyard, so grab some friends and a picnic and enjoy a beautiful day in Lyle.
White Wine and Oysters Party June 16th
We’d like to celebrate the release of three of our summer whites with a White Wine and Oyster party at Syncline on Saturday, June 16. We will be releasing the 2011 Grüner Veltliner, 2011 Subduction White and a brand new wine that we are all really thrilled about, the 2011 Grenache Blanc. These refreshing whites will be paired with three different oysters; Willapa Bay, Kumamoto and Pacific. This pairing will be free for our wine club members, non-member price is $8.00 for the three wine flight plus three oysters.

2011 Grenache Blanc
This is an exciting wine we are adding to our line up this year. Our Grenache Blanc is sourced from the world famous Boushey Vineyards in the Yakima Valley. Native to northern Spain, Grenache Blanc is best known as a southern French wine and a member of the Chateauneuf-du-Pape blend. Only 135 cases were produced, this will sell out fast.
This intriguing wine has aromas of Asian pear and wet stone, complimented by flavors of star fruit, green apple and hints of anise. The overall acid structure and enticing aromas make this a standout wine.

2011 Grüner Veltliner
We are pleased to release another stunning vintage of Underwood Mountain Grüner Veltliner. A cool vintage produced a Grüner under 12% alcohol with amazing texture, aromatics, and weight; perfect to pair with chilled oysters. 200 cases produced, grab it before it’s gone.
Truly mountain grown fruit, this location produces wines of exceptional focus and clarity. This wine is dry, backed by brilliant acidity and shows flavors and aromas of classic Grüner from the old country; wet stone, lime blossoms, lemon verbena and fresh mown hay. A perfect complement to fresh chilled shellfish and sushi, asparagus and artichokes.

2011 Subduction White
We are excited to release this true Rhone style white blend. This vintage of Subduction White is a blend of 38% Roussanne, 26% Marsanne, 20% Viognier, 10% Picpoul, and 6% Grenache Blanc. Perfect for pairing with a variety of your favorite summer dishes, or to sip with friends on a hot day. 410 cases made.
The weight and richness of Roussanne and Marsanne, coupled with the floral elegance of Viognier and Grenache Blanc and the brilliant acidity of Picpoul, brings aromas of elderflower and lime blossoms,complemented by flavors of pear juice, citrus, beeswax and and hints of minerality. Finishing with bright,balanced acidity, this is an excellent white wine that will delightfully accompany many foods and occasions.

Anchovies and Olives Dinner
Join James and Poppie for one of the most exciting wine dinners of the year, hosted by the outstanding Anchovies and Olives in Seattle. “We are Continually working to balance an Italian influenced menu with sourcing local products and are now featuring some Northwest wines,” says Justin Rosgen, manager of Anchovies & Olives. “Syncline makes excellent food wines, and we thought that a wine dinner would be a great way to celebrate our expanded wine program.” Chef Zach Chambers has put together an excellent menu for the dinner, and guests will have the opportunity to enjoy two sparkling wines that are new to the Syncline portfolio. Both the Blanc de Blanc and the Sparkling Rosé boast Columbia Gorge fruit and are made using the traditional method champenoise process. Reservations are required and will be accepted at 6pm or 8:30pm. Cost of the dinner is $75/person. For reservations, please call 206.838.8080 and specify which seating you are interested in booking.
Annual Wine Club Party
Invitations are being mailed next week to our wine club members for our annual Wine Club Party held Friday July 20th or Saturday July 21st at the Winery. Chef Christiaan Erasmus of Henni’s Kitchen and Bar will be providing a wonderful dinner and local bluegrass band The Shed Shakers will be providing entertainment.
